A little cloudy soon this morning. And to night it is as dusty as ever. Oh but how I do long to see the wind cease once more. I have wrote a letter to day to Lucius and one to Lonie. [The wind has been blowing hard for days now. ]  ,   .  Nice and still this morning. Cloudy and thretning rain. A long train of wagons passed through to the Matador Ranch. Now at dinner at  oclock. ] Hankins is with us. A stranger came through Town last night on his way to Quanah. He’s from Colorado— he sais.

Nice country around. Next [station] is Nolan. Nice county. No Town. Next station is “Krum,” a small town near Denton. There is nothing but a depot, near Bob Rights. We got to Ft Worth about  oclock. Stayed at the Mansion. Had a nice Trip. ”  [The four Miller children are now setting out on their western odyssey. One last group photo is taken in Gainesville to commemorate the occasion. They board their train and roll southward over the Grand Prairie. New and hopeful little towns appear like Krum, Texas, near Bob Wright’s place.

Worth on the train. It is nice and clear. We are on our way to Decatur to William Lawrence’s. Got to Decatur about ½ past  oclock. I find Decatur to be a real nice Town. We went around town with coz [cousin] William. I met several men and we went on top of the court house and had a beautifull view. A Prairie lies on the East and South, and Timber is on the North and West. I came up on the train with a Mr. , near Benjamin. [The Miller siblings split up at this point. Thomas and Adda leave Fort Worth on a different train to an unfortunate destiny.
